The Cubs advance to the 18AAA semi-finals after a stellar pitching performance by Will Bartos, guiding the 10-2 victory with 7 innings, 7 hits, 1 ER, no walks and 6 k's. "I've seen lil Willie pitch for a long time", says local resident Colin Cumberbatch, "and he was back to his old self that I've always remembered".

Offensively, after 5 innings of a pitchers duel, the Cubs finally broke out with  4 runs in the 6th followed by 4 more runs in the 7th to take a commanding 10-1 lead, effectively sealing the victory. Leading the offense has been Chris "father, son and holy ghost" Murray who picked up another 4 hits, which gives him 13 hits over his last 4 games. "This guy is on fire right now, even hotter than Taylor Swift", said pitcher Zach "I'm a vegan" Newhuis, while grabbing some leftover McDonald's sausage mcmuffins that were laying around.

"WE'RE VERY HAPPY TO GET THE W TODAY, LETS FRICKEN GO RIGHT NOW" said C Tyler Lewan calmly in the dugout talking with reporters.

With the win, the Cubs advance to the semi-finals against the Denver Green this coming sunday at Long Lake at 12:30.

Cubs Bats Remain Hot

The Cubs continued to have some hot bats, reaching double digit scoring once again. While the offense was a little slow to get started against the 3-2 Raptors, it finally got going in the bottom of the 4th with bases clearing triple from 2B Andrew "have you seen my truck" Clark, who was in an 0-2 count and drove a line drive to the right center field wall. Clark ended up scoring on the play after a throwing error by the Raptors SS. This brought the game to a 6-6 tie.

The Cubs then took the lead in the bottom of the 5th after 3 hits in the inning by C Tyler "I only have an outside voice" Lewan, LF Justin "Suns in 82" Williams and a two-run double to right by CF Mike "I float in the outfield" Florenza. After the Raptors tied it again at 8-8, the Cubs finally busted open in the bottom of the 7th with four more runs, highlighted by Florenza hitting his first ever homerun in his life. "I couldnt believe it, I've been waiting 25 years for this moment, the most exhilarating moment in history, especially as I have more homeruns than Kris Bryant this year", said Florenza. Later in the inning, after hits from Matt McAuliffe, Nick "who wants flying lessons" Besman, Muslce Milk spokesman Clark was up again, and did not disappoint the ladies. He took a 1-1 fastball over the leftfield fence for a 3run bomb to complete the cycle. "I was feeling pretty good today, struck some good wood and put the ball in play", said Clark while washing his new truck in the stadium garage.

On the mound for the Cubs, it was a tough game, with 4 Cubs on the mound to get the job done. Picking up the win was Alex Accord, who went 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, with 5 strikeouts. "We didnt quite have the control we normally see from our team today", said a local mom in the stands.

With the win, the Cubs remain in first place at 5-1, with next Sundays matchup against the Denver Green at North HS.
