Cubs Win 5th Straight Weeknight Championship

By AB 09/15/2022, 10:30am MDT

Arvada,  CO - Champagne was once again pouring for the Cubs as they secured their fifth consecutive Denver NABA Weeknight Championship.

The day started off not looking so promising with rain moving into the entire front range just prior to scheduled game time, it was increasingly likely, based off local Denver weather TV hottie Lauren Whitney's forecast. However, when the team arrived at the field there was not a drop to be had in the area and the game was on!

On the mound was Cubs legend and Elite Athletic Training & Consulting father figure Will Bartos, who over the span of the last 5 years has shown complete domination on the mound, picking up a Win in all 5 championship games. Bartos again went the distance in the game, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks, 4 k's and one slip to the back in the top of the 7th. "I felt great all game, but didnt feel like myself at times. Kept a few balls up that they connected on pretty solid, but I hit 27/32 first pitch strikes, and felt like that was the difference maker. And thats what we teach at Elite and what I teach my kids", said Bartos as he searched the clubhouse for shots of ranch dressing.

The first 3 innings were a quick up and down on both sides even with the 2 runs the Cubs plated after an error from the Bombers, but they came right back in the top of the 4th with a 2 run moonshot from P Luke Davis to tie the game. "He swings a big stick", said a female fan from the first base luxury box. After the tying homerun, and the Bombers fans getting more excited, the Cubs struck back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from 401k old man Adam Bradell, followed by a 2 run single from RF, and future F9 Pilot Nick Besman, an RBI double from Jorge (let me tell you about solar) Lovatos and then another 2 run single from the Holy Trilogy Chris Murray to bring the lead to 8-2 for the Cubs.  After batting around in the 4th, the Cubbies plated 2 more runs in after a leadoff walk to Suns in 4 and sliding expert Justin Williams, who scored on a pinch-hit double from third-baseman Matt "BigMac" McAuliffe.

Defensively, the Cubs continued to perform with SS Lovatos making a number of great plays and adding another double-play to the Cubs new team record of turning 23 double-plays this season. "Defense & pitching wins championships, and thats what I keep preaching to the team", said C Tyler Lewan while he was pitching his tent with his camping buddy.

For the night, the offense was 10-26, with Lovatos and Bradell collecting 3 hits a piece.

"I'd like to thank the Cubs for a great season and congratulations on winning their fifth championship in a row, in a league that was its toughest ever for the weeknight division" said NABA President after the game. "It certainly was tough this year, which is great, there were a number of great games with all the teams this year, including the coaching decisions" said Broncos Head Coach Hackett, who was in attendance looking for best practices on coaching decisions.

Afterwards, the Cubs visited their local watering hole and downed a couple of beverages and ate roughly 32 chickens.

Until 2023, cheeryo yall!
