Sloths Even Up Record to 5-5 With Win Over Nuts

Riding the back of #3 Mark Hanifin and his team record 19 strikeouts, the Sloths have brought their record back to.500 at 5-5. The offense was able to bat around in the 6th inning putting 4 runs on the score board and the team never looked back. Reporters caught up with Mark after the game and when asked about his historic performance he stated "It feels out there, man!"

Way to go Sloths! The Sloths have Labor Day weekend off from NABA baseball and will resume on September 13th against the Wise Guys.

Sloths Take Down A's in Walk off Fashion

It took every last inning for the Sloths, but when the dust settled they were victorious against a very formidable As squad. Hitting and pitching alike were matched blow for blow and in the bottom of the 8th, down a run the Sloths came up with some last minute heroics to climb to a 2-5 record on the season. Even Stomper couldn't keep these Sloths down!

Sloths Go Blow For Blow With Hops Fall Short of Win

In a game that was hard fought from beginning to end, the Sloths were dealt with their 5th loss of the season. Pitching held their own allowing a season best 4 runs in the contest, but in the end not enough offense to come through as victors. Next week the Sloths take on the Athletics in an attempt to right the ship and earn their 2nd win of the year.

Sloths Lose to Ballers Late in Game, Fall to 1-4.

In a crazy frenzy of runs late in the game the Sloths drop their 4th game of the season allowing a 7 run 8th inning losing 16-7. The game saw a couple of superstars emerge from the ashes with Aaron "Ocho" going 3-4 with a double, "The Specialist" Aaron L. going 3-4 with a double and 2 RBIs and the newest addition to the Sloths family Jordan S going 3-4 as well. The Sloths look to break back into the win column next week against the Hops.

Sloth Take Down dragons

A couple of timely hits and a sound defense the Sloths took care of business and secured win #1 for the 2020 season. Sloths look to keep the momentum going next week against the Ballers.

Predators Edge Pass Sloths

Sloths lose their second game of the still young season falling 6-4 to the Predators. The Sloths jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning but failed to hold on to a 4-3 lead going into the 6th inning giving up 3 runs in the top half of the frame. Mark Hanifin tossed a gem and Max Frashier had a nice 2 for 3 day with a couple of runs scored at the dish, but for the second straight week just not enough offense to bring home the "W".

Sloths Drop Season Opener to Nuts

With only 6 innings to work with the Sloths came up empty-handed against the Nuts on Sunday. The offense came around in the latter half of the game, but proved to be too little, too late in the end. The team had good performances from many players including Mark Hanifin going 3 solid innings in relief, while offensively Jordan Smith turned in a 3 for 3 day with a double and a run scored. Quite a few things to be excited about this season for the Sloths as they look to bounce back next week and even their mark at 1-1.

SLOTHS WINNING CONTINUES - SHARK TOOTH POWER!!!!!

The Sloths stay hot with another win over Wolfpack on a Saturday make-up game and then get another big win after stomping the Red Sox 10-2 at Englewood on Sunday.

The Sloths secret to success has been a combination of adding ace pitcher Randal Bulliard and also with the bats heating up due to consistent work in the cage each week. The heart of the Sloths batting order is absolutely on fire right now. GQ,  A-dub, Big John, and Brett are powerful hitting machines and are crushing the ball.  The rest of the group is also heating up and getting on base more often which is really hurting the opposition and very hard to defend against.  There also seems to be a mystical power from the shark tooth that The Specialist wears. This seems to be helping the team out when he wears it.

Sloths had a rainout last week with the Jays. They look to even the score with Tribe this week.

A-DUB GOES YARD. NEW DINGER STREAK. SLOTHS WIN.

It is the 2nd game in a row with a dinger for the Sloths. Brett took the A's deep last weekend. This week was Aarons turn to put one out. He hit a 3-run shot, 340ft to left center field.

The wiesguys put up a good fight. They tried to rally a few times but kept coming up short. It was a close one there at the end but the Sloths defense managed to hold em and worked some quick outs to end it.

SLOTHS ARE AWESOME!

SLOTHS RULE! THE END.

SLOTHS WIN AGAINST JAYS

The Sloths easily manage the Jays on Sunday, handing them another loss. The Sloths will have a week off for the Memorial Day weekend and will be rested and ready to take on the Tribe at Englewood next game.

Sloths 7, Jays 2.

RED SOX BEAT SLOTHS, THIS TIME.

The Sloths rallied and had a good fight going against the Red Sox in game 5 of the season at Littleton HS on Mothers Day. Sloths had solid base hits with a few doubles. They could not find a way to pull ahead and they take the loss. The Sloths are slow starting off but its still early in the season. The boys are hitting the ball hard and had some great defensive plays. Time to look ahead to the next game and get another W on the board.

SLOTHS BATTLE WISEGUYS FOR THE WIN

The Sloths and Wiseguys went all 9 innings and were run for run all game. Sloths managed to get up a run and close out the game with some defensive strategy and help from the bullpen. Mooney started the game, Dave Miller came in for the win and Max Frashier shut the door and got the save.  Pitching is finally getting dialed in, fielding looked better and the ball is starting to drop in for base hits. Its the first win of the season for the Sloths.

SLOTHS STALLED BY A's AT ARVADA

Another slow start for the Sloths in game 3 of the season against the Athletics at Arvada HS on Sunday. The Sloths and A's had a battle last season with the Sloths coming from behind to win in the 9th with an epic grand slam from #20 Dave Miller. This time the Sloths could not make the magic happen, even after bringing out The Specialist to sit some batters down. The bats were swinging but the ball was not finding the gaps.  Sloths take another loss this week.

Sloths 5, Athletics 9

CHILL FREEZE THE SLOTHS IN GAME 2

Sloths just could not get anything going on Sunday against the Chill. They get shutout and take another loss in game 2 of the season.

The Sloths will have to figure something out when they come back from the week off.  Pitching needs work, hitting needs work and fielding has been pretty rough. Its time for Sloths to get back to the team they were last season and start winning.

Sloths will face the As in two weeks.

Wolfpack leaves Sloths hanging on opening day

Sloths started a small rally early on but Wolfpack pulled away late in the game with a series of hits. Sloths will have to clean up the pitching  and get the bats going next week.

SLOTHS AND CUBS SCRIMMAGE

Sloths are still a bit rusty but they get some solid work in against the Cubs at Northfield again on Sunday, one week before the season starts.

Bats were swinging but struggled to make solid contact. Sloths defense looked much better than the previous week and new pitcher Devin Mooney is starting to get dialed in.

Sloths start season with scrimmage vs. Afterburners

The Sloths and Afterburners get some work in with the first baseball game of the season in a scrimmage at Northfield HS.

SLOTHS NEVER GIVE UP!

It was probably the greatest comeback in all of baseball history or at least maybe the greatest comeback in NABA history. It was Epic!

The Hops were up on the Sloths all game. They started out putting up 6 easy runs in the 2nd inning and just kept on adding runs all game, The Sloths started a small rally mid game and managed to score a few but just couldn't get a solid streak going.

The Score was 11-4 going into the bottom of the 9th. The Hops had the game in the bag. The Sloths managed to get a few runners on base after a couple walks. A few singles were hit to drive in those runners.  With 2 outs and still down 4 runs, the Sloths dug deep and pulled out some solid base hits to tie up the game.

Don Case came up to bat and slapped a chopper that the 3rd baseman couldn't handle. He was safe at 1st and Dave Miller scored the winning walk-off run.

The Hops were stunned and the Sloths' dugout erupted in a crazy celebration of their first walk-off win and an unbelievable comeback in a playoff game. Final Score, Sloths 12, Hops 11.

The Hops season is over and the Sloths move on to the semi-finals to face the Dirtbags one final time to determine who moves on to the Championship.

SLOTHS MOVE PAST HOPS - #2 GOING INTO PLAYOFFS

The Sloths and Hops battled on Sunday. Both teams put up a good fight. The Sloths never gave up and rallied late to pull ahead.  The Hops tried to rally back and managed a couple more runs. Hops had bases loaded in the top 9th and the Sloths brought in their ace to shut em down. It was a close one.

Sloths 12, Hops 10.

Sloths take the #2 seed and Hops fall to #3.  This will give Sloths home field advantage going into the playoffs. Since its #2 vs #3, Sloths and Hops will have to face off one more time this week in the first round.

SLOTHS HOLD DBAGS AGAIN FOR ANOTHER WIN

Hani and the Sloths D were lights out against the Dirtbags. Sloths again hold em to win by one run.  Each time these teams meet its a pitching battle.  Hani rung up multiple batters and Brett Schlueter crushed the ball deep to score some runs.

Sloths 4, Dirtbags 3.

The Sloths are officially in the playoffs. Playoff seeding could be interesting depending on the results of a few upcoming games. Sloths still have a chance at the #1 seed. The Sloths will be looking at getting redemption against the Hops this weekend in the last regular season game.

SLOTHS DOMINATE CUTTHROATS AND TRIBE IN 2 GAME WEEKEND

It was a busy baseball weekend with games against the Cutthroats and Tribe and with a few Sloths playing the all-star game. The Sloths stacked up two more wins with double-digit scores in both games. Sloths bats are getting hot with multiple triples and doubles all weekend. Sloths defense was on point and they were able to get relievers some much-needed work on the mound. Sloths 13, Cutthroats 4 - Sloths 11, Tribe 3

  • Hani shutting down the Cutthroats
  • B sending it deep
  • Steve defending
  • Strike
  • Swat on base
  • It was a good weekend for baseball

SLOTHS ALL STARS

MILLER TIME, HANI AND GQ REPPIN SLOTHS AT THE ALL STAR GAME

The Sloths sent three of their best to play in the NABA All Star game for the National division.

Dave Miller, Mark Hanifin and Max Fraser are the Sloths all star selections this year. They showed up ready to play ball on Saturday morning at Golden HS.

RUBBER DUCKS SMASHED

Max Frasier and Mark Hanifin lead the Sloths to victory over the Ducks. Hani goes the distance again, pitching a complete game and shutting down a Duck rally late in the 6th.  In the top of the 8th inning, Max Frasier crushes a huge triple, clearing the bases and putting the Ducks out of commision.

The Sloths stay hot going into the second half of the season with a record of 7-2-1. They take on the Wiseguys next.

ITS MILLER TIME!!!!

#20 Dave Miller drags the field after the win.

It was a grind against the A's in a rainy battle at Arvada on Sunday. The score was tied 1-1 through 4 innings. With rain threatening to end the game early, the Sloths pulled ahead by 1 run in the 5th and the rain let up.  The A's capitalized on some crucial hits and walks and took the lead in the 8th.  #23 Aaron Lockwood was called in to pitch and managed to get the Sloths out of a jam by ringing one up for the last out of the inning.

With the Sloths down 2-4,  top of the 9th, one out and the bases loaded, #20 Dave Miller hits a Grand Slam to put the Sloths ahead 6-4. It was epic. Dave keeps the dinger streak alive for the Sloths, with 4 straight games with dingers now.

Starting pitcher #3 Max Frasier came back in to close out the game. Final score: Sloths 6, Athletics 4.

The Sloths will take on the Cutthroats next week in what is sure to be a battle. The Cutthroats and Sloths seem evenly matched. It will be a showdown of opposing managers who were former teammates, Kenny Reichelt and Josh Ortega.

SLOTHS TAKE JAYS INTO THE DANGER ZONE

The Sloths put up 20 runs on Sunday against the Jays at Northfield. After a slow start waiting on bases to arrive and attempting to repair the sandpit at home plate, the Sloths began an assault on the Jays and didn’t let up.

For a few innings, the Jays couldn’t buy an out. The Sloths capitalized on multiple errors by the Jays and took the Jays deep with #26 Brett Schlueter going yard, keeping the dinger streak alive for the third straight game. It’s another 10-run-rule win for the Sloths. Final score, Sloths 20, Jays 4.

The Sloths move on to 5-2-1 and look to dominate the 1-5 Athletics next week.

SLOTHS JUMP ON BULLS EARLY BUT CANT HANG ON

#3 goes yard off the Bulls starter in the 7th

The Sloths started out hot against the undefeated Bulls, putting 2 quick runs up in the 1st. Hani and the defense were able to hold em for a few innings but the Bulls started to adjust and get some solid hits.

After a Sloths pitching change, the Bulls started to chip away and were dialed in on the fastball. Sloths rallied with a couple more runs in the 6th and 7th and a 2 run dinger from #3 Max Frasier, but the Bulls pulled away with some big hits and switched to their closer to shut it down. Final score Sloths 6, Bulls 14.

Sloths will have to make some adjustments for the next time they see the Bulls but they showed they can battle with the best team in the league and had fun in what was a really close game until the later innings.

Sloths fall to 1 game behind in the national division and will be looking to get the W against the Jays this week to continue to stay on track towards securing a playoff spot.

SLOTHS TEN RUN CHILL- CHICKS DIG THE LONG BALL

Sloths celebrate the W at Petes after the game.A Sloths tradition.

The Sloths started out hot with a 3 run blast by JB in the 1st, giving them the early lead.  They continued to go deep, crushing balls out of the infield and in the gaps in the big outfield at Englewood, nearly homering a few more times. It was a hitting showcase.  The Chill managed to score a couple runs mid game but couldn't find any momentum as Sloths defense was lights out and shut em down early with the 10 run rule.

Sloths have a bye-week with the rest of the league and will be gearing up to take on the Bulls next.

SLOTHS SETTLE FOR TIE IN BATTLE WITH ANGRY 'SPOS

Game 6 against the Expos was a hitters battle. Pitching struggled on both sides and the Sloths managed to pull ahead early. The Expos battled back and tied up the game late on a Sloths defensive error.

Tensions were high and the Expos were easily angered, arguing every call, balls and strikes and even timeouts. Sloths remained cool, although somewhat amused at the spectacle the Expos were providing.

Sloths couldn't capitalize on the last chance to win and end up settling for a frustrating 7-7 tie.

On to the Chill next week.

Sloths hand Dbags first loss - Both teams leading National Division

Mark Hanifin shuts the door on the Dirtbags (9 IP 0 ER 5 H 1 BB 7 Ks)

Hani also drove in the only run with an RBI triple in the 7th.  Don Case saved a potential game tieing hit with a snowcone grab on a difficult short flyball at 2B. It was a defensive win for the Sloths. On to the Expos next week.
