Face Grizzlies next week

Denver, CO  The Colorado Bombers came into their first round playoff match against the Shockers as the 6 seed playing against the 3rd seeded Shockers.  The seedings would not matter on this day as the Bombers would never trail in the game and came away with a solid 16-7 win over the always tough Shockers.  The win sends the Bombers to a second round semi-final matchup against their friends from the Grizzlies next Sunday at 11:00 A.M. at Machebauf High School.

Bill MacDonald once again played "Bulldog" for the day as he held the hard hitting Shockers in check all day by changing speeds and keeping all of their hitters off balance.  He went 7 innings only allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs to the Shockers and the only inning that was rough was the 4th when his defense let him down a little bit.  Craig Olson came on in the 8th and pitched a shutout inning getting a double play on the last play of the game to pick up the save.

The top 3 hitters in the lineup, Kyle Paulson, Eric Meyer and Andy Philemon, went a combined 8 for 13 and scored 8 runs on the day, all of which were driven in by cleanup hitter Dennis White who had an otherworldly game going 4 for 5 with the 8 RBI and even scored a run of his own.  The rest of the starting lineup had hits in the game as well as Jeremy Sparks, Keith Losey, Sherman Lodge, MacDonald, Olson and Chris Schneider all had a hit on the day and Schneider scored 3 runs on a hit an 2 walks.  Pat Poppen was inserted into the lineup in the 8th and had a tough 6 pitch at bat before succumbing to a horrible strike 3 call.

The defense was on point for every inning but the 4th as the Bombers turned 2 double plays and made almost every play in the field.  It was a solid effort by the team on every front and they are playing their best baseball at the right time going to the semi-finals against the Grizzlies.

It should be a great game this week between 2 long time friendly rivals.  Every game between these 2 teams is a joy to play in and fun to watch.  It should be a great Sunday at Machebauf High School this Sunday!
