Game suspended due to lightening on Sunday

Arvada, CO  The Colorado Bombers and Mudcats had another terrific encounter last Sunday at Arvada West High School.  The teams went back and forth all day long and the game was 19-18 in favor of the Mudcats going to the 9th inning.  There was still time on the game clock and in spite of some pretty serious lightening happening all around the ballpark, they started the ninth inning.  Dennis White had come on to pitch and walked the Mudcats lead-off batter when the umpires decided it was too dangerous to continue.

The storm was not going away so the game was called and the Mudcats declared the winners at the time.  Head Coach Eric Meyer filed a protest with the league that the game should be completed since the Bombers were the home team and the 9th inning had started and both teams should get their final at bat.  League Vice President Joe Collins then contacted Mudcats head coach Ez Malaty and explained Meyer's protest and Malaty agreed that the game should be finished.

So the Mudcats and Bombers will play the 9th inning of their June 8th game prior to their next scheduled contest on August 3rd at Arvada West High School.

The Bombers are very appreciative of the work Joe Collins and the League did as well as very thankful to Ez and the rest of the Mudcats for agreeing to let the game finish.  It will be a unique day for the teams as this has only happened one other time in the history of the Bombers/Rebels team.
