The Colorado Cubs continued to feast on the Ribeye's with a 5-2 victory Wednesday night at Long Lake Regional #5, winning the season long series 4-0.  Righty Will Bartos started for the Cubs and picked up the win, with Chris Murray credited with a hold and Isaac Munoz coming in and picking up the save. Between the ace staff, the Cubs pitchers gave up 2 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks and 11 strikeouts.

Offensively, in typical Cubs fashion, the first time through the order, the flame throwing new comer for the Ribeye's shut the team down, but the bats came alive the second time through, and while only collecting a total of 6 hits, an rbi double from 1B Adam Bradell, a 2 foot pop-up rbi single from kale specialist Zach Newhuis and DH Nick (I'm a better pilot than Pilot Pete) Besman with a leadoff double to come around and score on a sac-fly from SS Jorge Lovatos.

"We made our opportunities count when we needed to", said Manager Will Bartos after the game while lubing up his body with icy hot.  "I'm proud of the way we pitched, 2 walks to 11 strikeouts is the type of pitching we need, and certainly something were open to sharing with Buddy Black and the Rockies organization.  Offensively, it was simply timely hitting".

"We certainly took a different approach the second time through the lineup", said Besman.  "I know my second time through, even after falling behind in the count 0-2, I knew that slider was coming on the next pitch and simply took her deep to left, squirting it be the defense".

With the win, the Cubs move to 9-1-1 (18-3-1 overall), with the Ribeye's falling to 2-9.  One more regular season game, and then the playoffs are scheduled to begin on September 16.
