Cubs defeat rival Bandits 5-4 to bounce back and end their 2 game losing streak.
Will Bartos pitched 6 innings for the win and Isaac Munoz pithed the 7th for the save. Bartos gave up 6 hits, 3 earned runs while striking out 9 and no walks. "We pitched really well tonight. As I said yesterday, walks will kill any team, and us going out tonight and punching out 11 while only giving up one free pass put us in a position to win the game", said Bartos in the player cafeteria after the game.
Offensively, the Cubs did a great job putting the bat on the ball with only 2 K's for the game, while pounding out 9 hits, with LF Justin Williams leading with 2 hits and 2 RBI. "I felt like we did a great job hitting tonight, we were chopping up the pitching and bringing it to the hibachi most the night", said CF Hudson Bell.
With the win, the Cubs secure the #1 seed for the weeknight league moving to 3.5 games ahead of the Bandits with 2 games left. "I'm glad we secured the #1 seed, that's what we set out to do in February when we are in the gym doing two-a-days", said manager Will Bartos.
Cubs move to 8-1-1 for the weeknight (16-3-1 overall), with the Bandits falling to 4-4-2.
The Cubs would like to send their condolences to the fence behind the on-deck circle of the first baseline after taking a beating from a thrown bat.
