Cubs faced off against their weeknight rival the Ribeye's at Long Lake Regional #5 on a smokey evening in Arvada.  With the smoke blowing onto the front range from the fires in the mountains, Cubs pitchers Will Bartos & Jaron Dorchinez kept that smoke coming to help the Cubs to another victory 13-5.

Will Bartos started and threw 3 innings (after a 2 week sabbatical) of 4 hit ball, with 4 earned runs and 5 strikeouts.  Jaron Dorchinez finished the final 3 innings with 1 hit, 1 earned run and 6 strikeouts to get his first win.

On the offensive side, the Cubs hitters were cooking ribeye's all night, collecting 12 hits, with the team hitting for the cycle, helped by DH Bryer Mueller seasoning a fastball to the hill at 400 feet for a 2-run home run, and RF Zach Newhuis saying "no ribeye's for me" going 1-1 with a triple to center.  "That felt great.  I got a good fastball on a good piece of wood, and my Old Hick did the rest," said Mueller during an in-game interview.  The Cubs broke out big in the 4th helped by patient approaches at the plate with 5 walks and 5 hits to plate 9 runs in the inning.

"I was glad to see the approach we took at the plate tonight.  We were patient and I liked the ratio we had of 3 strikeouts and 6 walks for our lineup", said Manager Will Bartos while being massaged in the clubhouse.

Cubs move to 6-1-1 (13-1-1 overall) in the weeknight league and hold a 2.5 game lead over the Bandits.  The Ribeye's fall to 2-6.
